A big storm in a tea cup!

Well the media were at their best again!

If you were to believe the papers and the television news Fiji was facing another military coup last month.

I am fortunate to get close to the ground through my village contacts. As you would know there is very little happening in Fijian society that is of consequence that does not get filtered down to the youngest boy in the smallest village.

My hosts laughed when I suggested that a coup was in the wind - they knew better than all the media! It was nothing more than political grandstanding Fiji-style and a coup would never have happened in a week of Sundays! Unfortunately the media's assault on Fiji did not help the tourism business for a while but things are now returning to normal.

Welcome to our first video email!

This month we are launching our first video email. (Click on image right)

This is very exciting technology and perfect for the tourism industry.

In the future we will endeavour to bring you video clips and visitor testimonials about their experiences in the villages.

For those of you who do not access this small video clip please note bookings between May and June are filling up.

Village of the month

Our village of the month is Matacawalevu, a tiny village just miles from the location of the famous and controversial movie "Blue Lagoon" which starred a young girl by the name of Brooke Shield.

In fact many of the villagers at Matacawalevu starred in the film.

The village offers excellent snorkelling and great value.

All the best for 2006
