Bula Vinaka!

FijiBure Music CD on its way

Hot off the press! The sound recordist is currently in Namuamua recording the choir and band there after recording the bands from the villages of Naroro and Namatakula. He still has the band and choir of Naiseuseu to go before we get together at the end of this month and cut our first Fijian Village Homestay CD.

We are very excited by this project as it will give our growing number of guests something to take home with them after enjoying the community-based hospitality found in Fijian villages.

After I asked Simon (our taxi driver) on the phone how it had gone at Naroro and Namatakula he laughed and said "Beautiful, Mr Scott, beautiful!"

We are also going to record the key parts of a traditional sevu sevu at Namuamua to set the scene on the CD.

More villages to join up

With the growing success of FijiBure.Com I will be travelling to Fiji next month to meet three new prospective hosts from villages spread across Viti Levu and the Yasawa Islands. I am hoping that we will have these village homestay options up and running by early July. (I am taking a bit of a holiday on the Yasawas this time!)

What's new on the FijiBure.Com web site

We have just started a guest gallery where we will place photographs sent to us by our guests. We encourage you to send your photos to be part of the gallery of memories - and comments would also be welcomed!

You might enjoy our new comprehensive page on kava and its customary uses by Fijian villagers.
